Introduction - Bidi rolling women faces many health hazards. So, to provide alternative source of earning they are being provided with additional training under the skill development programs as follow -

  1. Tailoring work -Women receive training in sewing, specifically for children's dresses, women's clothing, and other attire. This training lasts for three months and is conducted in the Ashok Chowk area. Sujata Madur is the one who takes this training. So far, 20 women have completed this training, and it is evident that this training has led to an increase in women's economic output.
  2. Bharatkam (Traditional Indian Embroidery)-Bharatkam training is started by the inspiration of Suvarna Gokhale, Secretary, Jnana Prabodhini – Solapur. Anagha Sabale, Urmila Sanghshetti, and Aruna Gavai, each provided 2 days of training (total 6 days in a year) to a total of 26 women. Trained women do excellent Bharatkam work. Now they earn a decent amount from Bharatkam work.
  3. Crochet -We have also seen the skill in crochet work among the Bidi rolling women. Therefore, we provided training to them in crocheting under the guidance of Madhuranitai Shikhare. 21 women received 10 days’ training in it.
