Introduction - In 1945, Late Mrs. Avantikabai Kelkar established a Pre-primary school named 'Balvikas Mandir'. She received her Montessori education from Madame Montessori and took the initiative to run a school, initially as a pre-primary section.

Educational Role and Objectives - Children between the ages of 3 and 6 are considered highly receptive and culturally sensitive. The education provided during these formative years forms the foundation for all subsequent learning. Keeping this in mind, Prabodhini focuses on preparing children for a holistic development, including physical, mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual growth.

Structure and Methodology - The school is divided into three sections: Nursery, Junior K. G. and Senior K. G., each accommodating 40 children. Each class has a teacher and an assistant teacher. In the pre-primary section, there are a total of nine teachers, along with a care-taker. All teachers have completed the curriculum of the Montessori Teacher’s Training Course run by Jnana Prabodhini - Solapur.

Subjects and Curriculum - Children are taught various subjects, including language, general knowledge, mathematics, sensory development, life skills, science, craft, and sports. The aim is to facilitate the physical, mental, emotional, and intellectual development of children, as well as their creative and critical thinking abilities. A well-structured syllabus is prepared, ranging from macro to micro-level topics.

Special Attention - In Nursery, the care is taken to develop good habits. In L. K. G., Special attention is given to the activities of the students through understanding instructions. In U. K. G., emphasis is placed on micro lessons

Admissions - Admissions to young children are based on government regulations.

Educational Specialties - Students enjoy the study because preparation of reading, writing, and arithmetic is done through educational aids. Project-based learning is done through celebration of festivals. Innovative forms of gathering enable the participation of every student. Child observation is recorded in written form. The school does not conduct exams. Activities such as walking trips, field trips, children meeting, funfair, science experiments to improve observation skill and curiosity are prioritized. A variety of activities are carried out to introduce professionals. Lessons are scientifically planned and activity based.

Special Programs for Parents - Parent meetings and workshops are conducted for parents. Grandparents are invited to participate in workshops.
